Weekend box office

Halfway through THUNDERBOLTS on Friday night, I knew I wasn't reviewing it.  Why?  Because it's a predominately White cast.  That's not a bad thing.  But it did mean that it would be treated differently.  I was right about that.  It's the number one film of the past weekend.  And people are hailing it as a hit.

What's my beef?  I'll tell you after we note the top ten via THENUMBERS.COM:
1 N Thunderbolts* Walt Disney $74,300,608   4,330   $17,159 $74,300,608 1
2 (1) Sinners Warner Bros. $33,102,310 -28% 3,347 n/c $9,890 $179,831,032 3
3 (4) A Minecraft Movie Warner Bros. $13,727,081 -40% 3,571 -270 $3,844 $398,236,560 5
4 (3) The Accountant 2 Amazon MGM S… $9,494,968 -61% 3,610 n/c $2,630 $41,177,890 2
5 (5) Until Dawn Sony Pictures $3,825,116 -52% 3,055 n/c $1,252 $14,384,006 2
6 (7) The Amateur 20th Century… $1,919,077 -48% 2,135 -925 $899 $37,058,757 4
7 (6) The King of Kings Angel Studios $1,708,881 -59% 2,035 -1,140 $840 $57,716,308 4
8 (8) Warfare A24 $1,275,396 -52% 1,315 -590 $970 $24,086,697 4
- N The Surfer Roadside Att… $698,114   884   $790 $698,114 1
- N Rosario Mucho Mas Media $513,232   794   $646 $513,232 1

So my beef?  It made $74 million.  And it's a hit.  In its opening weekend, it made $74 million.  Do you remember how much CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD made in its opening weekend?  $88.6 million was the figure domestically for this original film, this non-franchise film  And it was treated as a failure in one press write up after another.  It became a press fulfilling prophecy as each week we saw more and more stories announcing it was a flop.  It was not a flop and it was not a box office bomb.  But it would have done much better if every week did not see the press insisting it was a bomb.

$14.6 million.  That's how much less THUNDERBOLTS made in its opening week than CAPTAIN AMERICA BRAVE NEW WORLD made.  How much less.

It's interesting how much worse a White film can do and be hailed as a hit by the same media.

Not getting it yet?  THUNDERBOLTS is being hailed as a hit with a $74 million opening.  But the Black film SINNERS was called a disappointment when its opening weekend took in $48 million.  Ben Stiller and only Ben Stiller called that nonsense out which is why I thanked him here ("") and will say thank you to him again.

The industry rags -- HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, VARIETY and DEADLINE -- seem very inclined to attack films with Black led casts.  At what point are they going to take a look at that prejudice.

Going out with C.I.'s "The Snapshot:"

Monday, May 5, 2025.  The Chump Crime Syndicate continues its grift and corruption, pious and religious they are not, Hegseth continues to be a scandal, Senator Tammy Duckworth call him out, and much more.

Let's start with tacky.  Chump and his administration love to pretend they're Christians -- well, not cult member Tulsi Gabbard, but all the rest for the most part.  And some of the ladies' even take to displaying worn crosses over their clothes.  Like Pam Bondi whose private life makes a mockery of the cross.  They love to pretend.

Pretense is all it is.

FOX "NEWS" -- no link to trash -- reports that a horse race is being hailed by Pete Hegseth and others in the administration as an omen, a sign.  Really?  God's backing horse races now?  It's funny kind of belief in God they pretend to express.

Pope Francis died April 21st.  It hasn't even been a month ago.  The People's Pope passes and idiots and sycophants start nonsense about Donald Chump should be the next pope.  Senator Lindsey Graham goes all in on the nonsense on social media surprising all of us who haven't seen him so struck by a death since power bottom Joey Stefano's porn career ended with his 1994 death.

Then Chump himself took to posting an AI created photo of himself as the next pope.  People are not amused.

Massimo Faggioli  (LA CROIX) notes, "Most shockingly, on May 2, Trump posted an AI created photo of himself dressed as the pope – a social media post published on his own personal account and then republished by the official accounts of the White House. Cardinal Dolan and the New York State Catholic Conference openly criticized President Trump for this mockery of the church. More predictable was the silence of law-and-order Catholic politicians who support Trump in Europe."  Max Martza (BBC NEWS) explains:

The image posted by Trump on Friday night features him wearing a white cassock and pointed mitre, traditionally worn by a bishop. He wears a large cross around his neck, and has his finger held up, with a solemn facial expression.

The New York State Catholic Conference, which represents bishops in New York, took to X to criticise the picture.

"There is nothing clever or funny about this image, Mr President," the group wrote.

"We just buried our beloved Pope Francis and the cardinals are about to enter a solemn conclave to elect a new successor of St Peter. Do not mock us."

Left-leaning Italian former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi also blasted Trump's post.

"This is an image that offends believers, insults institutions and shows that the leader of the right-wing world enjoys clowning around," Renzi wrote in Italian on X.

Drake Bentley (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL) reports:

"I guess I find it to be an unfortunate thing," said Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey S. Grob in an interview with the Journal Sentinel May 4 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

"In my own understanding just of what it means to be a Christian and a person of good will is to be respectful of other people's circumstances," Grob said. "The church, Catholic Church, is in a period of mourning over the death of Pope Francis, and now it's a pivotal moment, looking into the future.

"And so, it's a very serious time. And whoever it is, wants to quip and make fun, be it Christianity, Catholicism, Judaism, Islam ... We've lost great respect for moments like this. And so it is what is, I guess, but it's very unfortunate."

, and CNN) note some reactions:

“Not funny, Sir,” the 66-year-old Filipino Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David wrote in a post on Facebook.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, was also critical when questioned by journalists ahead of delivering a Mass in Rome on Sunday.

Asked whether he was offended by the image, Cardinal Dolan – who Trump hinted he favors for the next pope - replied, “Well, it wasn’t good.”

Similarly, Father Gerald Murray, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York who was attending the Mass at Cardinal Dolan’s church Sunday, said that Trump’s post was “silly … you don’t do that.”

Italy’s former prime minister, Matteo Renzi, condemned the image as offensive to those of Catholic faith. “This is an image that offends believers, insults institutions and shows that the leader of the right-wing world enjoys clowning around,” he wrote on X.

Trump’s post caught the attention of Italy’s media. “Infantile” was the word used by Italian daily La Repubblica, accusing the president of “pathological megalomania.”

If the Chump administration has a theme song, it's "The Grift Goes On."  Check out the latest on Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard from RAW STORY's  Matt Laslo:

President Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, is open for business — on social media at least.

Gabbard has been DNI since February, yet a Raw Story review of her social media presence reveals her personal X account is still offering subscriptions at $5 a month.

But that’s not all. On Gabbard’s personal Substack, it appears anyone, anywhere, foreign or domestic, can send unlimited donations.

“That’s not normal,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) told Raw Story, while walking to a vote in the Capitol. “It does become an interesting conflict of interest, though, if it’s a violation of ethics rules.

”That is crazy," said Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY), a former Army intelligence officer. "There's so much corruption, it's sort of like, where do you focus?"

There is no respect for religion and these are not religious people in the administration.  They are greedy and they are unethical.

Don't forget to tip your server.

That appears to be the motto of the Chump administration and, by server, they mean public servants who are not allowed to take personal gifts nor to profit from their government positions.  Hasn't stopped them one bit.

Trashy Garbage, as Trina long ago dubbed her, is only one member of the Chump Crime Syndicate.  Carl Gibson notes another criminal scheme:

President Donald Trump is continuing to blur the lines between the federal government and his private businesses as his family rolls out its latest cryptocurrency project.

The New York Times reported that Trump's son, Eric, recently appeared at a conference in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) alongside Zach Witkoff, who is a co-founder of the Trump family's World Liberty Financial cryptocurrency company. The two announced that the government of Abu Dhabi (the capital city of the UAE) was investing $2 billion into the Binance cryptocurrency exchange — the largest crypto market by volume — using a so-called "stablecoin" (a cryptocurrency designed to have a constant value close to $1) developed by the Trump family's company.

According to the Times, that deal is likely to net the Trump family a profit in the hundreds of millions of dollars. The Times' David Yaffe-Bellany wrote that World Liberty's work has "created conflicts of interest with no precedent in modern U.S. history" given the amount of foreign investors typically barred from making conventional political contributions chipping in large sums of money.

Justin Sun — a Chinese-born billionaire who runs the TRON cryptocurrency exchange — is a top investor in World Liberty. After Trump was elected, he bought $75 million worth of World Liberty's $WLFI coins. That purchase came after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) accused him of manipulating one of TRON's cryptocurrencies. The Times reported that the SEC then asked a judge to pause the investigation into Sun after Trump was reelected last year.

Quid pro quo.  Tit for tat.  Pay to play.  Call it what you will, it's putting democracy up for sale and it's not just unethical, it's illegal. Nikki McCann Ramirez (ROLLING STONE) offers another example:

Donald Trump and his family continue to cash in on cryptocurrency from entities looking to curry influence with the president and his administration - which is simultaneously working to deregulate the industry.

At a crypto conference in the United Arab Emirates, Eric Trump and Zach Witkoff announced that the Trump family's stablecoin - World Liberty Financial's USD1 - will be the vehicle for the state-backed Emirati investment firm MGX to invest $2 billion into Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange.

The announcement comes weeks after Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao claimed he had "no discussions of a Binance US deal with … well, anyone."

The transaction comes with a host of ethical baggage. For starters, World Liberty Financial (a decentralized exchange "inspired by Donald J. Trump"), is co-created and managed by Trump's family - as well as that of Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, who has been functioning like a shadow secretary of State -and will now have direct financial ties to Binance, which in November 2023 pleaded guilty to financial crimes including money laundering, sanctions violations, and unlicensed operations. The exchange was slapped with heavy restrictions on operations within the U.S. On top of that, the transaction involves a foreign government with clear political interests in the United States. Much like Trump used his hotels as vehicles for foreign entities to court favor with the presidency, the signal being broadcast by World Liberty Financial is that the Trumps are open to investments.

Chump and his cabinet are betraying the country to line their own pockets.  This is far worse than The Teapot Dome Scandal.  It is The Chump Criminal Syndicate.  Josh Meyer (USA TODAY) notes:

Just two of the cryptocurrency investments owned by Trump-affiliated entities have made at least $300 million in trading fees alone on sales of his meme coin and other digital currency since January, according to ethics watchdogs, Democratic lawmakers, crypto analysts and other experts.

Greater potential profits lie in the Trump entities’ stake in the value of the meme coin and their other Trump-themed crypto investments, these analysts and other experts say.

Last week, another of the Trump family's crypto ventures, World Liberty Financial, announced that one of its digital coins is being used by an Abu Dhabi investment firm for a $2 billion investment in cryptocurrency exchange Binance. Democratic lawmakers and crypto analysts said the deal was a conflict of interest that could earn World Liberty at least $27 million per year.

Meanwhile, Trump's administration has loosened regulation of the cryptocurrency industry and dismantled a Justice Department unit targeting crypto fraud.

Crypto isn’t Trump's only source of funds since returning to office. The president profits from real estate, his Truth Social platform and a range of branded merchandise, experts say.

[. . .]

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, ranking Democrat on the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, told USA TODAY he’s launching an investigation into Trump’s profits as president.

Robert Reich takes on the corruption of the Chump Criminal Syndicate and the media's lackadaisical manner of portraying it:

Words matter. When the media points out Trump’s “potential conflicts of interest,” as it has in recent days when describing Trump’s growing crypto enterprise, it doesn’t come close to telling the public what’s really going on — unprecedented paybacks and self-dealing by the president of the United States, using his office to make billions.

The correct word is corruption.

Trump holds a private dinner at the White House for major speculators who purchase his new cryptocurrency, earning him and his allies $900,000 in trading fees in just under two days. One senator calls this “the most brazenly corrupt thing a president has ever done.”

He’s doing other things as brazen if not more brazenly corrupt.

He collects a cut of sales from a cryptocurrency marketed with his likeness.

He promotes Teslas on the White House driveway on behalf of a multibillionaire who spent a quarter of a billion backing him during the 2024 election.

He posts news-making announcements on Truth Social, the company in which he and his family own a significant stake. Truth Social thereby becomes the world’s semi-official means of knowing Trump’s thinking and policies.

Moving on to natural disaster and failure Pete Hegseth who, for no rational reason, remains the Secretary of Defense.  At least for now. Yasmeen Hamadeh (DAILY BEAST) notes:

The Pentagon inspector general has reportedly expanded an investigation into Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s use of the encrypted messaging app Signal. Citing a congressional aide and a source familiar with the inquiry, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that acting Inspector General Steven Stebbins plans to widen his investigation to include a second Signal chat Hegseth made that included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer. Stebbins initially announced the launch of the investigation last month, and stated it would examine a Signal group chat Hegseth and other top officials were a part of. That chat became public after then-National Security Adviser Mike Waltz accidentally added Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. The inquiry will now include a probe into the second group chat as well, and could pose trouble for Hegseth—who has repeatedly denied ever using the app to send classified information.

When not applying his make up in his new taxpayer funded beauty salon, Hegseth can be found snorting fantasies while insisting they're reality.  At the Council on Foreign Relations, Noël James and Diya Mehta note:

On Tuesday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced an end to the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Program. In a post on X, Hegseth wrongfully attributed the program to Biden, saying “WPS is yet another woke divisive/social justice/Biden initiative that overburdens our commanders and troops,” and is a distraction “pushed by feminists and left-wing activists.” In fact, President Trump signed the first WPS Act into law in 2017. WPS promotes the participation of women in peace and security efforts, which has been shown to improve outcomes, including the durability of peace agreements. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), who championed the WPS Act in Congress, criticized the Secretary’s decision, saying it was short-sighted and unlawful. “WPS is law; the Secretary cannot unilaterally terminate the program Congress passed because he doesn’t understand how the inclusion and participation of women in mediation and negotiation make a measurable difference in preventing, mitigating and resolving violent conflicts and keeping America safe.” Experts worry that eliminating the WPS program will also impact the military's ability to recruit and retain a capable and prepared force.

Remember, Pete Hegseth had a woman say he assaulted her.  Pete rushed to pay her off, remember.  And claims he was innocent.  But would not waive the NDA the woman signed as part of the settlement so that the woman could testify during his Senate confirmation hearing.

When you remember that, you understand what propmted him to make such a stupid and idiotic move.  This is an attack on people assaulted, an attempt to silence them.  Kelsey Baker (BUSINESS INSIDER) notes:

Retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Kate Germano, author of the book "Fight Like a Girl," told BI that "it seems that those who are at the bottom of the pecking order will be the most adversely impacted by the [latest] change — especially women and people of color."

A Marine officer who has led investigations told BI the new memo seems "part and parcel with their effort to weaken participation of underrepresented groups."

Yesterday, Donald Chump insisted on NBC's MEET THE PRESS that Hegseth's job was "safe." That's generally code for "I'm about to kill the bastard" when it comes to Chump.  Senator Tammy Duckworth was also on a Sunday morning show yesterday, CBS' FACE THE NATION.

From the transcript:

MARGARET BRENNAN: And we're joined now by Illinois Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth.

Good to have you here in person.

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH (D-Illinois): Thanks for having me.

MARGARET BRENNAN: So, Senator, I know you did vote to confirm Secretary Rubio. Do you have confidence that he can juggle all four of the jobs that he now has for an indefinite period of time?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: No. There's no way he can do that and do it well, especially since there's such incompetence over at DOD with Pete Hegseth being secretary of defense, and just the hollowing out of the top leadership.

There's no way he can carry all that entire load on his own. And so I do think that they need to find a new secretary of defense. They need to find a new NSA – head of NSA as quickly as possible.

MARGARET BRENNAN: But, at this point, we heard from the chief of staff that she believes all the Cabinet secretaries will serve a full year. What makes you think that Secretary Hegseth could actually be dismissed?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Well, I think he should be dismissed.

Whether or not President Trump's going to dismiss him is a whole different conversation. He should never have been nominated in the first place. He is the most untrained, inadequate secretary of defense in our nation's history. And look at what he's done at the Pentagon. It's in turmoil.

He lost his top staffers within a matter of days. He's now put classified information an unclassified chain, and he's put on our nation's national security at risk.

MARGARET BRENNAN: He says no war plans, wasn't classified, but it was sensitive information. That's part of this ongoing inspector general probe, as I understand it, into his conduct.

Do you have any timeline, any sense of how seriously that's being taken and when the results will be seen?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: We don't have a timeline. It is very serious.

Let me make it clear what he did. He put into an unclassified Signal chain that the aircraft are going to be over a certain point in space at a certain point in time. That's classified information. Any basic person getting through military training knows that is classified information.

And he did it on a separate chain with his wife and family members.

MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you, because you sit on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, along with Armed Services…

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Armed Services, yes.

MARGARET BRENNAN: … what you think is going to happen to Mike Waltz, who is now being pushed out of the NSA role and into this job as ambassador to the United Nations. That's arguably a pretty important post.

Senate Intel Vice Chairman Mark Warner says it's going to be a brutal hearing. What do you want to know from him? And are you open to confirming him into the job?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: It will be a brutal hearing. He's not qualified for the job, just by nature of the fact that he participated in the Signal chain.

In fact, I think everybody on that Signal chain needs to be fired, because not a single one of them spoke up and said, hey, this is inappropriate. We should be in a secure channel.

And, by the way, what's really interesting was that there was not a single uniformed personnel on that Signal chain, which was very clear that it was purposefully done to keep the military personnel with the experience off of that Signal chat.

Now, Mike Waltz is doing what we call, he is failing up, right? He is failing in his job and getting promoted to be ambassador. That's not what our nation needs at the United Nations.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Mike Waltz served this country in a uniform as a Green Beret. He was a lawmaker. You think he is incompetent, and you're not open to voting for him at all?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: I'm not open to voting for him, no, because he – because he's already demonstrated he's incapable of doing the most basic thing, which is handling classified information.

MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you about funding for defense because I know you have said, in particular, the Navy needs more money and more financial support right now.

The Republican chair of Appropriations and the Republican chair of Armed Services both saw the White House's budget when it was released on Friday…

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Yes.

MARGARET BRENNAN: … and said it freezes military spending at Biden era levels, which they argue amounts to a reduction.

Can you work together with your Republican allies to increase defense spending?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Well, one of the places where there has been bipartisanship has been the Armed Services Committee. That has been something that I have been very proud to be a part of.

Now, whether or not my Republican colleagues continue to be co-conspirators and collaborators with this administration in basically gutting the United States government is up to them. Right now, their plans are going to require laying off hundreds – at least 100,000 civilian workers at the Pentagon.

It's going to, in the words of Chairman Wicker, basically – I'm going to paraphrase him – cut defense capabilities to the bone, I think is how he put it.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes, he did.

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: We need to make sure – the Navy needs more ships. We need more – and the Merchant Mariners need more boats, more ships. We need to make major investments in our sixth-generation fighter fleet. We need to make major investments in training pilots.

We are short pilots. And yet the cuts that they're proposing in order to fund a vanity project like the Golden Dome does not help make America more secure on a global scale. And it certainly doesn't keep us the leader of the free world.

MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you about one of the programs that is at least nominally being eliminated. Secretary Hegseth posted on social media he's ending the Women, Peace, and Security program.

Hegseth said: "It's a divisive social justice initiative from feminists, a distraction from war fighting."

But when we checked how the now-chairman of the Joint Chiefs described it, General Caine, he said he used the program in the field after an assault to send in female members to speak with women and children to better understand human terrain.

So, if the military establishment says it's useful and the secretary of defense says it's not and it's a distraction, what happens? And can lawmakers like yourself actually rescue this program?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: We can if my Republicans will stop rolling over for this president. We can actually rescue this program. The program is clearly important. It's supported by every combatant commander. It's a program that came about – by the way, Marco Rubio was one of the leaders of this. But…

(LAUGHTER)

MARGARET BRENNAN: He was. And Kristi Noem as a lawmaker supported it.

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: And Kristi Noem as a lawmaker supported the program.

MARGARET BRENNAN: And President Trump signed it into law.

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: And he signed it into law.

This shows how incompetent Hegseth is, that in his slash-and-burn efforts at the Pentagon, he basically slash and burned something without realizing that this was actually a Trump era law and this was led by his colleagues. And now he can't back out of it.

This came out of really some of the lessons we learned in Afghanistan when we had the Marine Corps Lionesses, which were teams of all women Marines, tough, tough fighters, who would go in and talk to the women in the villages and would get intelligence that no one else could.

(CROSSTALK)

MARGARET BRENNAN: Because the women wouldn't talk to the men.

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Because women wouldn't talk to the men.

And so this is a vital program that keeps our military stronger and also makes it more lethal, because we can find where our enemies are and go after them.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Hegseth said he will implement the minimum required of - - what does that mean? Do you know?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: I don't know. But he's the minimum of a defense secretary, so it's not surprising that he would go to the lowest levels.

MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you about what's happening within your party.

Your fellow Midwesterner Michigan Senator Elisha Slot kin said Democrats are messaging in a way that doesn't resonate outside of blue coastal areas. She was focusing in on Bernie Sanders' use of the term oligarchy. She said, use plain language. Talk about kings, that we oppose them.

Do you agree with her that there is at minimum a messaging problem, if there isn't something more within your party right now?

SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Well, I have long said that we should be listening to Midwest Democrats a lot more. Those of us from the center of the country represent states like Illinois. We're 102 counties; 96 are red and six are blue.

You don't get elected in the Midwest without being able to talk to everyday voters in red counties about the issues that they worry about. Do – be able to talk about agricultural issues. Our farmers are just being battered by the Trump administration right now. The tariffs are hurting them with the products they're trying to sell. The inputs that they're trying to import in order to plan and grow their crops are being priced out of range.

The steel that John Deere uses to make the tractors are also pricing those – that equipment out of range. I do think that the Democratic Party should be listening to the Industrial Midwest more.

Where ever Hegseth prances, blurry borders follow.  Take his attorney.   Daniel Lippman and Josh Gerstein (POLITICO) explain:

Tim Parlatore is a personal attorney and top adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. At the same time, he’s suing the Navy and defending private clients against the U.S. government.

Parlatore, who represented Donald Trump in a criminal case two years ago and rejoined the Navy Reserve in March to aid Hegseth, was recently tapped to coordinate the leak investigation that led to chaos at the Pentagon. The probe was publicly tied to the firings of top advisers and preceded further revelations that Hegseth was careless with classified information. Parlatore was also reportedly in the Signal group with Hegseth’s wife and brother in which the Defense secretary shared details of a strike on Yemen.

But despite Parlatore’s deep involvement at the Pentagon, he is pursuing litigation against the Navy. A review of federal court records shows Parlatore listed as an attorney on 11 cases — though a few appear to be dormant and not all involve the U.S. government. Often his clients are retired military personnel.

The business of Washington is built on government officials leaving their jobs to trade access for private clients and using their connections to achieve client goals. While Parlatore insists his arrangement is above board, it’s highly unusual for a sitting top adviser for a Cabinet secretary to be working in the government while at the same time representing clients suing the government, or working for clients as they fight off the feds.

ELSBETH and WILL & GRACE

Were you shocked by tonight's ELSBETH? If you haven't watched it, go stream it.  A character is leaving (but will be back as a guest on some episodes next year).

That was a real shocker for me  And I'm not sure how I feel about it other than shocked.  I will say it's not Elsbeth's son.  He's been one of the best things about season two, by the way.  I'm glad he's more of a regular (and living in NYC with his boyfried).  We get another side to Elsbeth via him and he can also cut through some of the niceties with Elsbeth since he's her son and we don't doubt that he loves her.

I liked season two. NOTE: THURSDAY WAS NOT THE SEASON FINALE -- SEASON FINALE IS MAY 8TH.

But I missed one episode and I didn't miss it at all.

I chose not to wathc.  I'm not in the mood for Alyssa Milano.  Not today, not tomorrow.  I'll always be Team Shannen.  So when she guested on an episode, I skipped it.  And I won't watch it

I say that but I might in one way only.  If it ends up streaming, I might have it on while I'm sleeping.

If my girlfriend's not staying over, I've got the TV on.  Sometimes, even when she is  I sleep with on.  Almost always on NBC COMEDY VAULT where I watch WILL & GRACE.

Almost always?  If I'm about to go to sleep and two or three episodes ahead will be the season eight finale -- the original series finale before the 2017 reboot -- I will go to IFC and stream PORTLANDIA instead.

I hated that ending.  The best thing about the reboot -- and there were many great things about the reboot of WILL & GRACE -- was them dismissing with that crappy ending in the first episode of season nine.

I really did love the reboot and wish it had continued for several more seasons.

My ten favorite episodes of the reboot?

"Grandpa Jack."  I wish Skip had been used more in the reboot.  He only got two episodes.  This is the one that introduced him as Jack's grandson.

"Rosario's Quinceañera" was a funny and moving episode that dealt with the death of Rosario.  Shelley Morrison didn't come back for the reboot because she wasn't well enough.  This had drama and comedy and it worked.  Unlike the worst episode of the reboot "Grace's Secret" -- that's the all time worst episode -- of the entire series, not just the reboot.  As much as I hate the season eight finale, I hate this episode even more.  It's Debra Messing going for an Emmy and it's nonsense and it's garbage.  Make us laugh, don't ben an after school special -- or as they'd say on FRIENDS "a very special episode of BLOSSOM." They could have done that story, Grace assaulted as a child, and done it with wit and humor.  Instead, they threw comedy out the door and went overboard with the melodramatics.  And not helped by that awful Robert Klein.

He was so disgusting as Grace's dad.  Alan Arkin had been great in the role.  There was no reason to replace him.  But Robert Klein was just gross in the role.  And there's no way to ignore that in this episode.  In a later episode, Robert Klein's character refuses a blood transfusion from Will due to homophobia and Klein is less disgusting in that episode than he is in this one.

"Who's Sorry Now?" also had drama but it didn't lose the humor.  It's a great episode and a needed one because we're not in the 90s anyone and Grace's never ending whining -- and constant backstabbing of Will finally ends as she has to admit that Will being gay didn't destroy her life and it was never bout her.  For once she has to see it from Will's side.  And it's a great episode.

So is "Three Wise Men" which may be Debra's best moment in the entire series.  She's slept with a man, she's dating his son, the son breaks up with her and, on the rebound, she sleeps with the son's son.  She doesn't know this until all three men descend on her apartment.  As they talk about who had the prettiest girl -- they don't know that they've all slept with Grace -- Grace has one of her meltdowns and wails, "I'm the prettiest girl in the whole world!"  It's probably her best moment in the show ever.  And I'm not anti-Debra. S he's had many funny moments but that's just amazing the way she wails and then realizes it's not all about her as she asks the son when he does his laundry so she can avoid the laundry room.

"Anchor Away" Minnie Driver's hilarious in this episode.  She did at least three in the reboot, returning to play Loraine Finster from the show's first run -- Karen's husband Stan was in prison and Loraine was the prison cook.  They fell in love and she tried to steal everything from Karen but Stan died -- he dies over and over throughout the series.  In this episode, Karen and Grace hunt her down because they need dirt on Stan and find her stripping at her new job.  Its a very funny one and there are great moments for Minnie, Megan and Debra in the episode.

In "The Scales of Justice" we get Will's Judge Judy impression which is classic.  Megan gets some good moments as Karen's step-daughter Olivia shows up -- she had one episode in the original run and then this one in the reboot.  Her brother Mason never got an on camera moment.

"Filthy Phil Part 1" and "Filthy Phil Part 2" feature Joel McHale as a man out to swindle Karen.  They're hilarious episodes and it also goes to the heart of Karen's relationship with Will and Grace.

"Performance Anxiety" is hilarious and the main story is Jack and Grace go to Annie-con and Grace gets to sing (her singing is notoriously bad throughout the series).

"Sweatshop Annie and the Annoying Baby Shower" is hilarious.  Ellen -- of Rob and Ellen -- shows up and gets one of the funniest lines in the episode.  Will gets a lot of laughter as he seeks advice from some Gen Zers.  Grace writes down her feelings.  Karen turns Jack's child acting troup into sweat shop labor.

Going out with C.I.'s "The Snapshot:"

Thursday, May 1, 2025.  This snapshot is a think piece on the state of our country and the state of the Democratic Party.  Non-thinkers should surf the net to find something else to read.

Let's start with this.

That's tonight.  It's going to be must-see TV.

Last night, Kamala Harris addressed Donald Chump's first 100 days.

If you're not a grown up stop reading right now.  I do not have the time to waste on you.  Emily Prescott (KANSAS CITY STAR) notes:

A recent Gallup poll has revealed that confidence in Democratic congressional leadership has fallen to a record low of 25%. Meanwhile, confidence in Republican leadership stands at 39%, well above their past low of 24%. The shift comes amid growing dissatisfaction with Democratic leaders amid challenges in resisting President Donald Trump's agenda.
Gallup stated, "Democratic congressional leaders’ rating among their own party faithful has fallen 41 points since last year to their lowest point ever."

Of course it has.  I'm not a journalist for KANSAS CITY STAR so I lack the stupidity required to gas bag over a serious topic.

In early 2024, I did not talk here about Kamala Harris and Gaza.  I'd already found out that she was calling for a cease-fire within the administration.  She made some public statements around that time.  We did note those.  I could have put what people were telling me was taking place in discussions and who was advocating for what.  And maybe I should have.  But I did take the issue to the community newsletters.  This one?  This serious topic that we're getting into?  I've hinted mainly but that's really been it

How stupid are some of you?  Not talking about community members but am talking about idiots who claim to be Democrats.  I get it, the loudest of you aren't really Democrats.  You're the trash that's always trying to take over our party and always damaging us as a result.  In fact, take your bow for having put Chump back in the White House.

You idiots -- and liars -- that's who I'm talking to right now.

I've stayed silent on a topic, the one we're getting into now, because I honestly don't want to deal with it.  Just like the rest of you, I have to get up every day and fight for this country.  There's no reason I should have to except for the fact that the DSA and SA and Rashida (who is DSA) knew so much better than the rest of us what should happen.  They just knew that it was time to campaign against Kamala.  And how has that worked out for the country?

You need to be thinking about that when you're worshiping pubeless grifter David Hogg who's done nothing with his damn life other than grift (see Ava and my "Media: Baby Hogg is no leader").  He's not a leader.  He wasn't a leader at Parkland.  And he hasn't been one since.  Yet somehow he's banked two million dollars.

In his long long long 25 years he's apparently gotten wisdom.  Or his dumb and lying groupies think so.

Rashida knew best before the 2024 election.  And her best delivered the White House to Donald Chump.

Our country is in serious danger right now.  We don't need to make things worse.  We need as many Democrats as possible in Congress.  We need it for checks and balances, we need it for impeachment.

Rashida didn't care about the country.  Time and again, we were told by her apologists that "her people" were suffering.

She's an American citizen. Her people are fellow Americans.  She voted twice to impeach Chump.  Her priority should have been "her people" the American people.  Instead, she spat on the Democratic party and this country and worked instead to put Chump back in the White House.

I think we can all agree that end result was not good for the country.

Now the same gamblers want to roll the dice on a plan to primary Dems ahead of the midterms.  You are beyond stupid.

B-b-b-but the polling! B-b-b-but the polling tells us this is the time coz people are unhappy with the Dems!

You stupid fool.

I wake up every morning wondering if today will be the day Chump goes full on dictator.  I am so thankful that we made it through 100 days -- some of us did, those who didn't die and weren't tossed out of the country -- but I'm not willing to gamble that we can survive past the mid-terms.  I don't even know we can survive until the mid-terms.  That concern comes from actually having read Project 2025 which was too much work for the David Hogg brigade.  They can't actually do the work but, hey, they read a Tweet.

Idiots, I'm not giving you permission to gamble on democracy.  I will fight you every step of the way because I know what happens in a primary.

Let's go to an earlier David Hogg.  Tom Hayden.  Tom was a grifter who latched on to Jane Fonda and bled her dry of every dime he could.  Abby Hoffman rightly called Tom out but Tom fooled a lot of people -- like David does today.  Using Jane's connections and her money, Tom decided to run for the Senate.  YOUTH!  And no experience.  John Tunney was the incumbent.  A Democrat.  It was 1976.  With Henry Fonda, Linda Ronstadt, Jerry Brown and countless others campaigning and fundraising for Tom, he ran a serious challenge.  Didn't get enough votes in the primary to defeat Tunney.

But Tom did his damage.  Tom left Tunney's reputation as torn up as Tom's own pockmarked face.

And despite having served six years in the House of Representatives and then six years in the Senate and being the incumbent, Tunney lost the general election to Republican S. I. Hayakawa -- a disaster and then some.

Time and again, we see that happen.  That is what history tells us if we listen and teaches us if we hear.

Haywakwa was able to use the smears that Tom and Jane launched against Tunney in the primary.  Tunney was the incumbent.  12 years in Congress.  Considered a potential presidential candidate in the near future before Tom primaried him.  Then in the primary -- that he still won -- his reputation was slashed to pieces with rumors and lies.  And the Republican was able to use those in the general election and build on them.

We need to have the power to hold Chump in check in order to save our country.  We're not going to get that with David Hogg's 'plan.'

Back to polling.

Dems are doing bad in Gallup?

Yeah.  And that's only surprising if you're an idiot -- or a journalist apparently.

Americans are scared of losing our country.

In the aftermath of the contentious 2024 U.S. presidential election, large majorities of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents describe their reaction to Donald Trump’s victory as optimistic (86%), relieved (85%), excited (76%) and proud (72%). In contrast, majorities of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents report feeling afraid (76%), angry (68%) and devastated (61%) about the election’s result.

Get it?  We've been destroyed in terms of hope and morale since the election outcome.

Chris Hayes had Senator Chuck Schumer on his MSNBC show right after Chuck voted in a manner that most of us hated.  Chris tried to get at the why.

Maybe Chuck didn't want to be honest about himself maybe he just didn't want to address the topic like I don't want to.

The first 100 days are over.  They were bad and no one knew how bad they were going to be.  One of our biggest concerns was the Supreme Court would just rubber stamp Chump.  They've shown a small indication that this might not be the case.  What issue do we carry to the Court?

That was a serious concern among leadership in Congress.

I wouldn't have voted how Chuck voted.  But Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski was not the only one who was nervous.

The reality is that the Democrats in Congress had very little power unless they wanted to revisit the days of the late Senator Mike Gravel.  For some, Cory Booker's recent filibuster on the Senate floor did revisit that past.

The protests were over after the election or did you miss that?  And the Dems had no power in Congress.  It was a very dark time and I'm not screaming at Republican Lisa for what she did and how she voted.  I'm certainly not going to attack my own party for fear in the first months.

And this isn't a justification.  This is a serious look at what was going on and the time we were in.

Each day, we have to get up and fight -- those of us who are fighting.

I'm fortunate, I know.  I've got people offline who will protect me.  That just means I have to hit all the harder when calling out Chump.  But, at the same time, keep things as calm as possible so I'm not creating a panic.

If Chuck had been honest in the interview with Chris Hayes, he would've explained his fears, he would have spoken of them.  And how many in leadership were arguing over whether they pushed right back immediately or waited for the issues that would go beyond partisanship and be more likely to have support among We The People and within the legal system.

Rachel Maddow got honest this week about what she fears is still around the corner and due to emerge.  Thanks to pushback -- a huge pushback -- from people around the country, there are reasons to hope.  And those of us participating in those actions should stiffen the spines of all Democrats (and hopefully some Republicans) in Congress.  We The People are not going to roll over.  We're also not going to 'protest' via BLUESKY or Twitter.  We're out there in the streets and our numbers will only increase.

And if Chump tries to assault us?  That's a valid fear.  The reason I'm participating is I know if he assaults us, he immediately loses everything.  The American people will not put up with that.  It will only increase the protests and the volume of people participating in the protests.

In a functioning country, that would mean we could all breathe.

But we're not in a functioning country.  Chump Land, by its very nature, is dysfunctional.

Every now and then, an e-mail comes in (I've noted this here twice already this year) about how I need to get "your people" in line and get them out at protests.

No, I don't.

I'm not good with people telling me what to do to begin with.  As any director who's ever tried to give me line readings can tell you.  But, more to the point, I am tempted to sit on the sidelines myself.  I have the least to risk so I can't sit on the sidelines.  But I'm not telling any other Black woman or any Black man, "You go to protests!"  Our skin makes us the target at any protest.  We know that.  It's one of the reasons that, as a people, we don't care for the DSA.  We've long grasped how they use us at protests.  We have the wounds and bruises that document how they use us.

There's also the issue of disrespect.

"Vote like a Black woman!"  Laura Flanders was the first Socialist liar I heard mouth that one.  And then it spread and spread and it was a slogan.  But it was just words.  Mere words.  For White people in the Democratic Party or pretending to be in the Democratic Party (Norman Solomon and his fake ass Uncommitted that Rashida fronted for him), it was just words.

Black women voted for Kamala.

We supported her.

And we were attacked for it.

Let's note three videos about that.

And the one below.  A note of caution, when we first posted this, the title and the woman speaking at the top led some to not stream all the way through and complain that the video is an attack on Black people.  No, it's not.  You need to get past that hateful woman because she's being called out for her lies and for her attacks on Black people.  The content creator chose to show you her attacks before commenting on her and others.

To this day, while White leftists (not Democrats) whine that Black women are not at the protests in large numbers like we have been in the past, these same White leftists don't want to deal with the racism that targeted us for months and months in the lead up to the election.  We were attacked.  We were disrespected.  We were the targets of racism.

So, no, I'm not going to say to any Black woman, "Oh, get over it!"

How can we get over what White YOUTUBERS refuse to acknowledge took place?

You David Hogg fools are idiots.

That's why you glom on him -- a White boy who has accomplished nothing.

Well, he was born White and that seems to be enough for you.

You misread what happened, you misread the response.

As I skip through BLUESKY blocking and muting the idiots backing Baby Hogg, I come across so many lies.

Like the fool who took the time to type how great it was that David Hogg was in charge of the DNC due to being elected to head it.

David Hogg is not the head of the DNC.  He is one of five vice chairs.  That's all he is.  And he might not even be that since his White skin appears to have allowed him to jump over rules in place.

But one lie they especially love to tell is that David can bring young men back to the party.

What?

David is an anti-gun freak.  That's not where the Democratic Party stands on guns -- not where the membership is.  That's especially not where young male members are.

Let's also note that Chump's turning away young men all on his own.  Andrew Stanton (NEWSWEEK) reports:

President Donald Trump's approval rating with Republican college students has plummeted during the first 100 days of his second term in office, a Newsweek/CollegePulse poll found.

[. . .]

His approval rating among college students has particularly dropped, according to the poll. Trump made some inroads with younger Americans in last year's presidential race, and some polls suggest the youth is more Republican than in the past. Others show his support crumbling among the youngest voters.

Why did he have the support?

Again, reporters apparently don't do context.

9/11.

No, I'm not joking.  Susan Faludi -- and only Susan -- tried to address this seriously in real time with her book   The media that can't do context can sell narrative.  And they did so following 9/11.  Read Susan's THE TERROR DREAM: FEAR AND FANTASY IN POST-9/11 AMERICA and grasp that this is the first election many of those born in the never-ending revisionary media following 9/11 which created a backlash.  These are the boys that were produced from that.  Born in anger and feeling scared.  Those boys poisoned by the same media revisionary nonsense that allowed the Iraq War to be sold.

Will they work their way over to the Democratic Party?  Maybe, maybe not.

But David Hogg is not going to pull them over.  He can't speak to them.  They don't relate to him.  First off, they are predisposed to believe in gun ownership.  Secondly, they have real concerns about masculinity and David's rather fey, if you haven't noticed.  Third, they are most disgusted by fakes.  And David's got that reputation.  They turned to Chump because he was so ridiculous they saw him as genuine. This can all be traced -- write the book, I don't care to -- to what the media sold the country -- and not even after 9/11, it really started on the day of 9/11.

Women were disappeared.  Women who were police officers and fire fighters and EMTs and so many other jobs.  It was instead, from the cowed and weakened media, nothing but man, man, MAN!

And man wasn't enough as we quickly found out as the media ran to enforce strict gender roles.  Mark Bingham?

A hero on 9/11.  At the start.  And then that receded because, horror!, it was learned he was gay.  So Mark got disappeared in the narrative.  (Credit to John McCain for acknowledging Mark as a hero when the media had already moved to forget him.  I'm not joking.  That's the one nice thing I can say about McCain.)

9/11 was a national tragedy that cost so many lives.  It was a media tragedy that provided a revisionary take on our country.  Children raised in fear have a limited number of predictable outcomes but we don't talk about that.  We couldn't even talk seriously about Susan Faludi's very important book, THE TERROR DREAM.  Go read those reviews and grasp how hostile they were to Susan, to her book, to the subject she was addressing and the questions she was raising.

A fey poof isn't really going to appeal to them so stop thinking David's your in with those conservative boys.  He's not.  He's not talking about what they tune into podcasts for.  He is not of that group and he cannot speak to that group.

On BLUESKY, it is so hilarious to see all these White people insisting David Hogg is an answer and to notice that these same White people ignore the attacks on Black women that took place -- some ignore those attacks because they were part of the group that attacked Black women.

It's really interesting to watch these people insist that we must have David Hogg to get young voters but these people have no concern that Black women might walk.  And we might.  Every day I think I'm at my breaking point as we get insulted, attacked, lied to, gaslighted, etc etc.

Don't think the Democratic Party could lose Black voters?  Gallup back in February:

Of particular note,

The Democratic Party's wide lead over Republicans in Black Americans’ party preferences has shrunk by nearly 20 points over the past three years.
Democrats' leads among Hispanic adults and adults aged 18 to 29 have slid nearly as much, resulting in Democrats' holding only a modest edge among both groups.
Whereas Democrats were at parity with Republicans among men as recently as 2009, and among non-college-educated adults as recently as 2019, they are now in the red with both groups.
Only partially offsetting these trends, the Democratic Party has gained adherents long term among college-educated Americans -- those with postgraduate education and those with a college degree only.

So how about you David Hogg fools stop obsessing over a 25-year-old kid?  Aren't you embarrassed?  Don't you feel like some 50 year old perv watching RIVERDALE?  You should, you really should.

There are very important issues to address and whether or not David Hogg gave you a nocturnal emission really doesn't qualify -- not as an issue, not as important.

Let me introduce you to a little more reality.  Bob Somerby (THE DAILY HOWLER) used to point it out all the time.  I'd imagine he still does.  I'm lefter than left.  And I used to get so ticked at his defense of this or that centrist Dem and how they were serving their constituents.  But he's correct and it took hitting the road in 2003 to speak out against the Iraq War for me to really get this point.  The centrist to you Dem from Genericville may be, for their community, a flaming liberal.  Not all areas of the country are as liberal as the bubbles some of us live in.  I lived in a bubble.  I don't pretend otherwise now.  I didn't realize it at the time.  It took speaking around the country to drive home how right Bob Somerby was about this.  So the Dem you hate?  If that hate truly translates to a need for them to be primaried?  Do their constituents feel that way?

In the wake of the 2024 election and Donald Trump’s inauguration for a second term as president, a plurality of Democrats would like their party to become more moderate, while a similar plurality of Republicans favor the status quo for their party.

Both party groups’ preferences have shifted significantly since 2021, at the start of Joe Biden’s presidency, the last time Gallup measured opinions on this question. Support for a more moderate Democratic Party among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents has grown by 11 percentage points, to 45%, since 2021. At the same time, Democrats’ and leaners’ desire for a more liberal party has declined five points, to 29%, and preferences for no change in party ideology have fallen nine points, to 22%.

Doesn't really fit into the David Hogg fan club, does it?

I guess you can scream and yell.  I guess you can say the pollsters are lying!  DSA really is just MAGA (especially the SA branch) anyway so why not act like Donald Chump when you don't like the results of a poll.  Just deny the results, ignore the results and scream that it's a lie.

Let me know how that denial works out for you.

I don't have time for your crazy and the country can't afford it.  We have got to take the House in the midterms.  That has to be the focus.  Our country is at stake, our democracy is at stake.

There are dozens of Dems in Congress that I would like to see out.  Want to primary them with a Dem president in office -- or even a rational Republican -- I'll gladly donate to your organization for that.  I donated big to Ned Lamont when he challenged Joe Lieberman.  Do we remember, though, how that worked out?  Ned won the primary.  He was the Dem nominee.  And Joe Lieberman ran as an independent and kept the Senate seat.  Again, history does not speak well of Hogg's sketch that he's attempting to pass off as a plan.

But where we are now is because so many of you f**ked around.  That's why Chump's in the White House.  Kamala was a god send.  It was clear that Joe couldn't make it through a campaign.  (And we, in fact, saw that in his limited campaigning for Kamala.)  We were given a fresh start, a do over.  And we squandered it.  We let liars like Amy Goodman bring on one Democrat after another for three months, one Democrat after another that trashed Kamala.  That created and continued the narrative that 'even Democrats aren't excited about Kamala.'  Of course, Amy did that by lying to her audience.  These were Socialists from DSA and she didn't identify them as such.  They were also part of Uncommitted, another detail she elected to omit.  Amy can be a liar as we discovered long, long ago.  She pulled that crap in 2008 as well.  If you think she cares as immigrants are being deported now, you're lying to yourself.  The time to show that you cared was in the lead up to the election and immigration really didn't concern Amy except when she could tell everyone that Kamala would be worse on it then Donald.  A functioning left would have run that grifter off of PACIFICA. If you're late to the party on that, see Ava and my "Media: How Amy Goodman harmed immigrants and helped elect Chump" and my "2024: The Year of Betrayal From Inside The Left."

Their goal, DSA, was to take over the party.  They withheld their votes and proved their power!  They didn't prove anything except that they can't be trusted.

Those of us who are people of color or who are LGBTQ+ or are immigrants or children of immigrants or on a fixed income or somehow at risk?  You rolled the dice for us from your comfortable and privileged White lives.  You rolled the dice.  We didn't get to roll the dice.  We didn't even get to blow on the dice before you rolled.  You took it upon yourself to say, "Oh, what's the worst that can happen?"

And for you Karens -- male and female -- life's pretty much the same.  For the rest of us?  You screwed us over.  You didn't know what you were doing.  You put us at risk and you put our country at risk.

You need to stop thinking you're smart or that the 25 year old still getting used to his pubes is a genius.

We can't afford you.  The country can't afford you.

You attacked Kamala and us.  And then, after the election, you started saying that we all needed to pull together.

That needed to happen before the election.  But you didn't want to pull together with us.

Now you're again preaching the nonsense of pull together and get behind Hogg!

You tried to divide the party ahead of the 2024 election and didn't care about pulling together then.

Now you're trying to divide the party before the midterm and those that don't want to go along with your change are the bad guys?

David Hogg is a spoiled brat.  His followers are proving to be exactly the same.

I do not practice situational ethics.  If you are a member of the DNC board, you are not allowed to push for incumbents to be primaried.  That goes against every ethical code in the world.

But if you had ethics, you would have held Amy Goodman accountable for stealing DEMOCRACY NOW! from the people who actually created it and you would have held her accountable for the sweet heart deal corrupt Communist Leslie Cagan railroaded through for Amy that has given her millions for a program that PACIFICA RADIO doesn't even own despite the millions they've paid Amy.  And PACIFICA created the program and funded it, not Amy.  If you had ethics, you'd be demanding that the contract with Amy be broken immediately and that would provide a huge influx of money to the PACIFICA RADIO network.

But you aren't about helping people.  You're too simple for that and that's why you never, ever get anywhere.  You fall in love with hucksters and follow them blindly while lying to yourself that their actions and your actions are helping the rest of us.

The 2026 midterms are not the time to play or the time to test your ahistorical hypotheses.

The stakes are far too high.

And I'm not THE NATION magazine.  I wasn't an idiot like Katrina vanden Heuvel saying this or that election of the '00s was 'the torture election' and the country was going under if a Democrat didn't win.  A Dem didn't win.  The country did not go under.  I don't operate out of fear.  I deal in reality.  And we've never been where we are as a country before in my lifetime.  Chump is a specific threat.   If you want to pull together, this is the time and this is the reason.

In the video at the top of Kamala speaking last night, she notes, "The one check, the one balance, the one power that must not fail is the voice of the people."

That's all we have between now and the mid-terms.  Right now we're using that power.  Right now it's working.  Right now it's giving us hope and it's giving our leaders hope.

I don't have faith that it's enough to carry us through four years.  I think we win the House in the midterms or we lose democracy.   The stakes really are that high.  This is not time for a pet issue.  This is time to focus on getting Democrats elected to the House.  20 million dollars spent on primarying Democratic incumbents is not only a waste of money, its built on an ahistorical premise.

I don't have time for your crazy or your petty these days.  Our nation is at risk.  In 2024, our focus should have been getting Kamala into the White House.  Too many of you f**ked around and f**ked us all over  It can't happen during the 2026 midterms.

Isaiah's THE WORLD TODAY JUST NUTS "The Virgin Baby Hogg" went up last night.  The following sites updated:
