Steiber spoke about how the movement needs to be welcoming to soldiers but it is not always welcoming. He felt that the movement self-defeated as a result.
I don't know that I agree.
I like Josh and he was well spoken.
But I really think that in the movement there's been too much effort to glorify soldiers. I think Josh probably sees a lot of stuff and he speaks from that and that's great. But there's also the reality that either everyone's welcome or no one really is in which case, it's not a movement, it's a clique.
I don't think he's trying to start a clique. I think he's trying to address serious problems and I believe him that he's seen these serious problems; however, I also believe there's a lot of group-think and a lot of 'let's hide behind soldiers' and other stuff like that. The reason I became a Common Ills community member all those years ago was because C.I. didn't write like that. She made it clear that everyone belonged in the peace movement.
I don't think Josh is trying to be unwelcoming to anyone. He seems like a great guy. But I also think it's been different being stateside during the war and seeing a lot of crap. For example, I will never forgive or forget the faction of IVAW that whored out the group and the peace movement because they were in love with Barack Obama. Screw that s**t.
This is from Hillary is 44's "Medical Alert: Hopium OD; And Hillary Clinton's Warning To The Tea Party:"
Obama supporters who deplore Republicans somehow can’t explain the broken “uniter not a divider” promise. Hillary Clinton warned that the special interests would not go away. She was mocked by Obama goons who heard celestial choirs. Hillary Clinton warned that Republicans would stick by their political viewpoints and guns. Hillary was denounced, by Barack Obama himself, as the problem whose “scars” were due to her own intransigence and unwillingness to work with Republicans.
Likewise, the many Obama supporters who called for Obama’s election because he was a “media darling” now bemoan the news reports of Obama’s bumbling. The JournoListers made Obama the “media darling” and now we all pay the price. The Big Media Party elected their unqualified stooge and foisted him on the American public and now the public is fighting back.
Barack Obama and his thugs want to “brand” a piece of junk. The Nobel Peace Prize used to have a great brand – the gold standard of achievement. But now the Obama “brand” has reduced the Nobel Peace Prize into a solid gold piece of junk. It was an undeserved award to a man of zero accomplishments.
The DNC/OAF can wave their new logo or Nobel Peace Prize medal like a glass marble in the hands of a hypnotist all they want. But logos and prize medals won’t change the fact that the underlying product is a piece of junk.
This November Americans will throw out the garbage.Hopefully. I'm saying it again: I'm voting Green. If you're able to in your area, I hope you'll consider doing so. We have to make it clear that business as usual with the wars does not garner votes. We have to make them know we won't support them blindly.
Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
