Update I: Bill Clinton not exactly a boon to Obama? We hope not. We’ve written for years that Bill and Barack on a stage diminishes Barack.
The HotAirs note that Roger Simon’s fury ignores that Bill is not alone in tackling Obama on Bain/Romney. But the Simon article is wrong on many facts. An apoplectic, full of rage, Simon perpetuates the lies of the 2008 Obama campaign about Bill Clinton’s “fairy tale” line about Barack Obama. Simon also trots out the myths that it was a Hillary defeat in South Carolina and Clinton “race-baiting” that prompted Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy to endorse Obama. Ted and Caroline had secretly decided before Iowa to endorse Obama (as had John Kerry). Further the “race-baiting came from Barack Obama not the Clintons.
Bill Clinton hasn’t had this much fun in a long time and anyone who wants Obama defeated should help Bill Clinton as he
This is going to be a day filled with updates. It’s the biggest primary day of the year. California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Carolina vote in House elections. Bill Clinton is backing candidates running against Barack Obama candidates in California and New Jersey (Howard Berman vs. Brad Sherman in California, Bill Pascrell vs. Steve Rothman in New Jersey).
The story today is not “out of control” Bill Clinton, as Obama protecting Politico has it. The story today is not Bill Clinton at a fundraiser with Obama last night, crowing and mocking Barack Obama to his face:: “And, I care about the long term debt of the country a lot. Remember me, I’m the only guy that gave you four surplus budgets out of the eight I sent.”
If anyone's got a right to celebrate right now, it's Bill Clinton. He was treated so poorly in 2008. He was savaged by supposed Democrats, lied about by the Barack campaign, he was savaged.
And he worked for all Americans but you felt welcome in your own country with Bill in the White House. I did not feel that way under George H.W. Bush. And that might not have been a reflection of his own beliefs, but it was certainly a reflection on the Willie Horton campaign and other stunts his supporters pulled.
Bill Clinton was president when I was in high school and college and I truly believed (and still do) that he was genuinely concerned about all boats in America and working to ensure that they all rose.
And I was proud when Bill was in the White House. Which is another reason I will never forgive Barack for his race baiting. It wasn't just dishonest, it was also attacking the only president in my lifetime that I felt gave a damn about the American people. To get the nomination, Barack was willing to destroy any and everyone.
He really is a shameless whore.
And it's karma that he's now got to depend on the people he savaged, he has to ask them for help.
