I do like laughing and after this week (with Barack's attacks on equality), we do need some laughs. So I'll go with a comedy from 1975, Manchu Eagle Murder Caper Mystery.
This is a comedy where Gabriel Dell plays a chicken farmer of sorts who wants to be a private detctive. His friend, the milkman, gets killed in Dell's office. He tries to solve the murder. That requires going up against the town's wealthiest man and includes speaking to the man's daughter whom he keeps locked in a barn. It involves speaking to the widow (Nina Tablot) and to the mistress. The mistress is especially hilarious because she's played by Barbara Harris (Family Plot, Freaky Friday, etc.) She's trying to kill herself. She does things like put a pillow in her oven (to rest her head on) as she tries to deal with losing her milkman who believed there was a mythical bird (Manchu Eagle) and who has a weird love of animals.
Animals like maybe the goat that's found dead in lacy clothes in the bed of a cheap motel room?
It's a wacky film that will keep you laughing.
Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
