If you've forgotten, Jesse Jackson Jr. acted like he was Barack's lover in 2008. I kept waiting to hear Junior was pregnant and going to carry to term despite Michelle's objections.
So he resigned, as Ed O'Keefe ("Washington Post") reports. O'Keefe includes Junior's letter:
During this journey I have made my fair share of mistakes. I am aware of the ongoing federal investigation into my activities and am doing my best to address the situation responsibly, cooperate with the investigators, and accept responsibility for my mistakes, for they are my mistakes and mine alone. None of us is immune from our share of shortcomings or human frailties and I pray that I will be remembered for what I did right.
He is under federal investigation for crimes, not mistakes.
He is forced out of office in disgrace and he's got the gall to say he hopes he's remembered for the good he did and not his "mistakes."
He's such an embarrassment.
I feel sorry for Rev. Jackson. What an embarrassment Jr. is.
And I feel sorry for Chicago.
Because Junior did no resign in the Democratic primary or in the general election, it's going to cost Chicago at least $5.1 million dollars to hold the special-election, ABC News reports.
Make Junior pick up that tab. He defrauded the citizens of Chicago.
