But that was mainly to set up some things and to allow for flashbacks.
How did Oliver Queen get all this training?
We know he got it on the island after the yacht crashed.
But how do you learn some of this stuff?
We had a flashback to him and two other guys. British guy was handcuffed or had hands tied. An Asian man with a bow and arrow was leading the way and Oliver was following and watching the prisoner.
And the British guy was trying to get Oliver on his side and said the island was a prison, that China put the worst criminals there.
So that explains better some of what Oliver can do. He was taught by master criminals.
At the end of the episode?
Let me note he tried to stage a Christmas party. Everyone said they'd be happy. Everyone blew it.
His sister would admit (after Oliver ended up in the hospital) that she had been a bitch. His mother would apologize but not explain. She flew off the handle at the step-dad when she found out he was investigating her husband's death.
Let's go to her last scene. She's with the crime boss (Helana's father, I think) and she's saying they can't go through with it and he can't believe that a woman who hired to have her own son kidnapped and beat up has qualms.
Whatever their plot is, a lot of people are going to die.
How did Oliver end up in the hospital?
He went up against the copycat. During which, Oliver learned that his father didn't make the list of people that he's wanting Oliver to make pay, someone else did.
I would've liked it better if there had been more Tommy or Helena but it was a strong episode.
Now here's what I think.
The mother actually had the father killed.
