So I looked through older stuff and thought, "What the hell?"
I picked up the Jennifer Garner starrer "Elektra" not expecting a damn thing except maybe that I'd end up with a really cruel review I could write about the movie.
"Elektra" first appeared onscreen in "Daredevil" with Ben Affleck. In that film, Dwarf Colin kills her. After "Daredevil" was made, this one was. And I heard this was about what happened to her before the "Daredevil" film. Which is why I avoided it like crazy.
I know she's going to die, why do I care about another movie with her?
The ads for "Elektra" should have shown Jennifer Garner's character being brought back to life. After I watched the DVD, I started talking about it at work. Like me, everyone there thought this was a pre-quel. It's not. Elektra is brought back to life.
She's an assassin. She's a ninja. She's pretty much everything and this is a really good movie. I wanted so badly to like Halle Berry's "Catwoman." But couldn't. This film had an actual storyline that moved forward. And Jennifer was surprisingly strong in the role.
If they were to make an "Elektra II," I would gladly stand in line for a ticket.
This is really a solid movie and more like a Bruce Lee film than a caped crusader type film. If you haven't seen it, this is one to take a chance on. It's got an adult and moody tone to it. It's darker than you'd expect, most likely. And that's why Garner works so well in it. She's playing a character you want more for. But she's never going to get what you want.
Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
