I wish I had known about this event yesterday or sooner. I would have made a point to note it. (The event was tonight.)
I like WSWS because they never got all Oh-Barry.
WSWS is "World Socialist Web Site." We highlight a lot of people from that site including Patrick Martin and Bill Van Auken. While (US) Socialist Worker is forever fawning over Barack and presenting him as a victim of this or that nefarious plot, WSWS never forgets he is overseeing three wars (Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan) and now the fourth in Libya. They hold him accountable.
(US) Socialist Worker, by contrast, has spent three years now excusing Barack, justifying Barack, distracting from his War Like Ways by pretending to be outraged by every other thing that happens on Fox News.
(US) Socialist Worker has acted as if they're an organ for the Democratic Party. I don't know if they're always that way with Democrats (because I've only been aware of them for about four years) or if it's just because they see bi-racial Barack as "Black."
He really is way too light for people not to realize he's mixed. But I remember 10 months after he was sworn in, a woman on my bus asking the driver, a grown woman on my bus who bragged she'd voted for Barack (and, yes, she was Black -- so am I) but people were saying his mother was White. How could she not know that?
Because mixed got presented as Black. That's the way White people have always done it in the US. If you're even a tenth Black, you're Black. The one drop rule of the south. I laughed so hard when the woman who went around screaming for Black America (Melissa Harris Lacewell) that Barack was Black turned out to have a White mother.
She's bi-racial. She's not in charge of the Black community.
Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
