I hate false choices. I'm not crazy about Harry Reid or Dick Durbin but if I had to choose one, I'd back Dick Durbin. POLITICO reports:
Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
The top two Senate Democratic leaders have split on a series of high-profile fights in Congress, a sign of the lingering divide within their party as they struggle to project a coherent voice on issues ranging from national security to the budget.
On deficit talks, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) has put a ton of political capital into the Senate Gang of Six — now five — only to have Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) dismiss such Senate “gangs.” On the Libya conflict, Durbin believes the War Powers Resolution means Congress must authorize the military action — and Reid has taken the opposite view.
