Common Ills year-end coverage included C.I.'s "2011: The Year of the Slow Reveal," Ruth's "Ruth's Radio Report 2011," Martha and Shirley's "2011 in books (Martha & Shirley)" and Kat's "Kat's Korner: 2011 in music." In addition, community coverage of 2011 also included Ann's "2011 best in film (Ann and Stan)" & Stan's "2011 in films (Ann and Stan)", Cedric's "Barack finally gets something right!" & Wally's "BARACK BEST 2011 MOVE!," Rebecca's "best of fall tv 2011" and Trina's "New Year's Parties."
Ann and I had a lot of fun picking our top ten. And Source Watch almost got an honorable mention. As usual, we got a ton more e-mails after C.I. cross-posted our list at The Common Ills and maybe that's why someone's written an angry e-mail? Maybe he doesn't visit Ann and my site?
Here's what I know: Don't whine to me that your movie wasn't on the list if you didn't e-mail Ann or me or leave a comment on either of our sites (we both allow comments).
I noted repeatedly here that we were about to do our list and if you had a pick you needed to let us know. I know Ann noted that at least twice at her site but I noted it repeatedly here and we noted it also at Third.
If you didn't see it, then you don't read our sites. So why are you pissing your panties that we didn't pick your favorite movie?
I never saw "Mars Needs Moms." As we note in our commentary, "Toy Story 3" really soured us on kids' movies. "Tangled"? I actually watched that before Ann and the main reason? I was sick. I had been throwing up. I got into bed and looked for something to have on in the background (I sleep with the laptop on). So I started streaming "Tangled." And thought I'd be asleep in five minutes (it was already one in the morning). I wasn't. I ended up watching the whole movie.
I love that movie.
But guess what?
I also loved "Mars Needs Moms." Had the whiner done what I suggested for weeks before Ann I picked our top ten and suggested a movie to us, if he had suggested "Mars Needs Moms" to us, we might have put that on our top ten.
It's actually a very good movie.
But if that's your movie, you should have let Ann or I know that you thought we needed to take a look at it. You didn't.
I'll review "Mars Needs Moms" later in the week.
Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
